Many years ago, when I was just a young rolly polly kid. I had the red zipper jacket and thought I was so cool. MJ was amazing. I didn't know what zombies were at the time but the fact was those things in the thriller video rocked. Later in life I discovered that zombie are like bacon. They make anything you add them to better. I'm getting off subject. With MJ's death I have found myself not really distraught by the fact that he has died. Most people recognize that he had the greatest contribution of any celebrity to the 80's pop culture. I still enjoy listening to the music he created because like all good music it has stood the test of time.

However, today I was watching some news outlets that said that some people are saying that the media is treating MJ unfairly when they look back at his legacy and saying it it because of his color. I have a couple of thoughts on this. First, the argument that is used is that the media didn't treat Elvis, JFK, and Kurt Cobain like this when they died. I'm making a guess that in the past there has been an unwritten rule that you do not talk bad about "American Hero's" right after they die. I would like to say that "American Hero's" is a little strong. I would rather use the term "Famous Celebrity". If you focus on the three names I put out there the argument makes sense. But what about Martin Luther King, Jr.? I would say that in the main stream media of the time MLK was not about badly. Now for me looking back on that time I'm hard pressed to even see how the media could possibly say anthing bad about MLK but I'm sure they could have if they had really wanted to attack his character. My thought is this: All media outlets and subsequently their viewers have become numb to information sensory overload over the past years. MLK, Elvis, JFK, John Lennon, and even Kurt Cobain was a differnt time. When the media and viewers still had a thread of civility. This is not a color issue. This is a viewership issue. The media needs to attract viewers and viewers will come if you have the freshest information. If all the information is the same then show us the bad side from all the angles. I could be getting to negative about the media. I have seen some very wonderful documentaries over the past view days that showed MJ for who is was. Wrapped up in this summary. MJ was a talented individual with personal issues. I'll keep listening to the discs I have when I'm in the mood for some great 80's music. And watch the Thriller video and say WOW that is awesome.

Well, that was more of a ramble. I'll get this blogging thing down sooner or later. Till next time.
